Default yes, beat the Ferrari's in 1967 with Gurney & Foyt. Only time a U.S. car and U.S. drivers has won

Default Yup- classic american- don't screw with us. Ford tried to buy Ferrari- Enzo backs out at the last

second, so Mr. Ford (the III I think) says "Screw You", and so he says, let me show you how we do it, without you. 3 years later the GT40 wins LeMans beating Ferrari. What does Enzo do? He says Ferrari will no longer be focused on Formula 1 and LeMans- so he focuses on Formula 1. Thus becoming the only car manufacturer in the world to have participated in every single Formula 1 championships since it's inception in 1950.

The GT40 is the 'only' car manufactured (IMHO) super car to come out of America. Shelby being the non-car manufacturer.

Check Speedvision if you get it. They have some great documentaries they repeat every so often.

I think Enzo backing out was a win/win for both Ferrari and Ford. For if Enzo would have gone through, who knows what would have happened to formual 1 without Ferrari. At the same time it gave the GT40 a 'one of kind' legend/mystique about it.

HTH-
Ernesto

Default Just like Ford

Since the Mustang is a 20+ year old platform, it makes sense to issue a supercar based on a 30+ year old design. Wait, it's 4 inches taller than the old one. Does that mean it's now the GT-44?
