Xenon Headlight went out only 9 months old, Is this common?

Wash your car lately? this has happend to me several times after washing, the left headlight goes
out.. a few days later all is well again. In fact I found a replacement unit on eBay, purchased it, by the time it arrived the headlight was working again... this a couple of years ago and still working.

Mine went out a few times intermittently
Mine seemed like a bad contact: hitting the glass with the palm would bring it back. Left headlight too! 
It might turn off while driving when going over bumps, but would come back after turning the lights off and on again.
Has been acting well lately
Other than that, my xenons have been on for 53K miles; day and night.

I don't see any water on the inside of the headlight. It could be a fuse I guess, I am bringing it into the dealer on Monday. I found out about the other day, when the car told me the light was out. I find this a little odd the car is only 9 months old. 2004 TT 3.2 roadster
