Default 2019 Design Select Package

Glad I caught this early, but I’m just coming to the realization that the design select package (needed for example if you want the red stitching and which I have selected as part of my new TT RS order) includes not only the red vent accents and seat belt stripes, but now in the 2019 model also bright red glossy seat and center console trim. Is that correct as far as anybody else knows? It’s hard to tell from pictures on the net since that differs from market to market, but if it’s true then that sucks imo. I really want the red stitching (he said like a whiny baby). I wasn’t intending to have the red vents but since that’s now a prereq on the 2019 I thought to myself, what the heck - they kind of pop. But, those seats and center console accents, dang!

How difficult would it be do you think to wrap those bright red pieces in the more neutral gray or similar color, or I suppose at a push I could buy those pieces OEM in that original color. Or go aftermarket?

I’ve already reached out to dealer as I’m seriously considering cancelling the option and going for the standard gray stitching which I already have in my TTS. It’s nice of course, but I really liked the idea of the change.

Not a happy camper right now

Other ideas or suggestions gratefully received.

Lol.

Good question, I had assumed it did and planned to vinyl wrap those pieces if I didn't like them in person since I just wanted the leather airbag cover, but the order sheet doesn't explicitly state the panels on the seats, just "accents", and doesn't mention the center console other than there being leather on it (even though its already listed as a standard option).

Check out this thread. It’s a slightly unrelated topic but it shows some interior shots of the red and blue stitching. It shows the blue high gloss pieces but the red doesn’t seem to have the glossy console and seatbelt trim. Maybe you dodged that bullet?

This is off the Canadian website. Maybe this is what you will get. Vents are trimmed but it’s pretty tame.

I also would have preferred the seats with red stitching, which was a standalone option for 2018. Alas, the design selection interior that must be ordered with the red stitched seats is a bit too much for me. Plus, I prefer the look of aluminum inlays over the also-required-for-red-stitching carbon fiber inlays. I wound up ordering the seats with gray stitching. If I want to look at seats with red stitching, I suppose I'll have to drive my Miata or Abarth, instead.

That's not bad. And, that appears to be aluminum trim, not carbon fiber. Canadians get a choice?

The carbon fiber inlay trim is definitely an option unto itself here and mine will have that. The stitching colour is a different option but I'm not clear what I'm getting either as our "build and price" on Audi.ca is still not active for the MY2019. However, the vehicle details sheet shows simply "TH - black w/turbo blue stitch". There's no reference to "design select". So my guess is that mine will not have the seat trim in blue (I'm ok either way).

I think that's still a 2018 image, since the stitching on the seats is honeycomb in 2019 and no longer diamond.

Good catch! It's definitely off the site as of today but you are right, they have posted the diamond stitch version.

Carbon inlays were not required under any circumstances on my US order, it was take it or leave it in any option combination.

Yeah I started that thread hehe. I grabbed those pics from an early marketing article and therein lies the problem - I have no idea what market they are from. It also shows a full leather steering wheel which I’m pretty sure is not an option in the US either. It does show the updated honeycomb stitching though so certainly appears to be a 2019 interior.

I guess I’ll speak to the dealer today. Slightly annoying. They all get built in the same place so why not just allow a universal set of options at least in cases where it has no bearing on local regs.
