So did fuel injection take a while to grow on you too? Why not say to yourself "Hey it's 2017. I spent a lot of money on this. Maybe I should assume the 100's/1000's of people who designed this car actually meant to make it awesome, and maybe I need to try something new?"

Idk, just what I would do.

Here's a link that discusses how to remove or de-activate the Soundaktor.

The noise maker was very annoying. It was rattling the dash. Not exactly an awesome design feature. I pulled the plug back in 2016.

I didn’t have anybody near me with a VAG COM so I paid the dealer about $50 to code it silent. MUCH better now.

I totally get why people think it's a little silly to have a "noise maker" in the car that only the driver hears. It sounds like cheating if the driver doesn't know, and if they do, then what's the point? Personally I like it for the sake of my passengers. If someone doesn't know anything about it, I usually do launch control, THEN tell them it's a four-cylinder for example. At least the Soundaktor helps it not sound like a two-liter. I think the point is that Audi has managed to use the same engine on this (quite fast) sports car that they use on their (not very fast, quieter, refined) A6's. At some point, people expect those to sound different, and I think they did an excellent, realistic, non-intrusive means of doing that. I like that I can liven the car up even for myself in sporty driving (which helps me hear the engine and makes my passengers excited) and then tone it down for comfort. I also totally get disconnecting it if it wasn't working correctly.
