Default 2009 A8L faults and strange behavior

OK

Went to start up my garage queen 2009 D3 A8L 4.2 on Saturday
Cranked and cranked, but would not fire. Never did that before. (My D3 S8 did the same thing once, but after I cleared the DTC's all was fine.)
Shut it off, repeat, same result.

Third time it lit up fine, but had CEL and EPC lights.
Ran fine, drove it 120 miles without incident aside from the annoying lights.

Cleared all DTC's, but I keep getting the Camshaft Position Sensor (G40) and resulting EPC lights back in a few seconds.

Any thoughts?

Maybe oxidized connector or just a bad sensor?

See below for relevant scan.

Thanks

Problem Solved!
I found the dreaded wiring harness eating rodent error!
Fortunately I was able to splice in four new wires, and all is good now!

Remains of my wiring to the cam position sensor. Fortunately they didnt eat anything else. All codes are clear now!
