Default Bad Airbag Controller?

While running AutoScan it stops to tell me that Vag-Com has already tried to connect to AirBag controller but didn't succeed. Then to avoid potential problems turn off ignition for several seconds.

The rest of the AutoScan comes up with no fault codes and there is no Airbag light on the dash.

Any thoughts?

It's a '99 A4.

Mine does the same... After ignition off, 30 secs, then ignition back on, I can access the module..
