erratic speed and fuel readings...

Hi there,
my speedometer needle started swinging erraticly and some mnutes afer the fuel level indicator started also to read erratily. Check engine light came on and this is what I got from the vag-com:
1 Faults Found:
16885 - Vehicle Speed Sensor: Implausible Signal
P0501 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent

Any ideas?

Yeah, your VSS is sending an implausible signal.

You might want to check the wireing to the vss and its contacts
