Fault code P00287 - wheel speed sensor mechanical failure intermittent
Hey guys. I know this subject is talked about a lot but I could find anything specific to my circumstances.
The ABS and TCS light are permantly on. I have run VCDS and the code is P00287 abs sensor mechanical failure intermittent.
I have changed the sensor but the problem persists.
When the car is first started the abs light is the only one that's on but when I initially Try to pull away the TCs light flickers and power is lost and then it stays on and power is resumed as normal.
Brakes feel fine, bit spongy but fluid has been changed and topped up with no leaks.
The car is a 2002 audi tt 1.8t quattro.
I have ordered new rear hub and bearing but I just don't know if this is the problem.
Has anyone had identical issues to me and resolved it?
Appreciate any feedback or advice as car has no MOT whilst this fault remains unfixed and I don't want a garage to just charge me for all sorts of nor necessary
Cheers guys

I'd say the ABS reluctor rings on the back of the wheel hubs are either rotted out, rust swollen and or broken. Replacing the rear hubs which should have new rings on them, along with new bearings should fix your problem.
