Default New Vag-Com USB Woes

Hello to all,

I am at a loss here. I bought the USB VC and installed Ver.409.1-US on XP. Installed the USB driver and when I do an initial test with it hooked up to my '99 Passat, I get:

Port Status: OK
Interface: Not Found!

Any ideas why? I assume by interface it is referring to the hook up on the car itself or? I have the ignition on in the car. I just wanted to see what was up with my car as the alarm keeps going off and draining my battery. Could be a faulty door pin switch or who knows that is making the car think the door is open. Or it could be moisture in the CCM so I bought the VAG-COM just so I could see if there are any error codes or issues it could spot. The car wil not start as when I try to, the alarm is going off and kills the starter

Cheers in advance for the help guys.

Hey,

The Ross HEX-USB but the laptop would not auto detect it (just said found serial device) so I went through and pointed it to the Ross Tech folder as per your instructions on the website here:

What I find really odd is how after I installed the Ross Tech Vag-Com software to C:Program Files, there is no folder there nor is the program listed in Add/Remove Programs. How do you uninstall it to reinstall it? Drag n drop it into the trash or?

Default Why whould you use 409.1 with a HEX-USB?

A HEX-USB will work with the latest, currently 607.3.

You don't need to uninstall in order to reinstall.

What version of are you using?

Have you tried plugging it into a different PC just to see what it does?

Ah ok..I thought with the older cables you have to use the older version software? Ok I will give it a shot with the new ver. then and try it on my home pc but I cannot conn it to my car via that route so that might be an exerpt in futility. Cheers!
