No response from controller...HELP!!!

No response from controller...HELP!!!

I've been working on this tirelessly. I've tried absolutely everything you could try with NO luck!
I'm using 311 and 409 with a 3rd party cable.

I have used various com ports and they even tested out fine...so there are no issues there.

The problem is when I try to interface with a controller. It comes back as "no response from controller". What should I try? I've tried everything!

Did you call your 3rd party supplier for help?

You could buy a genuine interface from Ross-Tech and then you would get the help you might need to get it operational. I know - you would if you could.

Taking a guess, the issue is the drivers they supplied to you. The drivers are not working properly to allow communication with the modules in the car.

so you think it's a matter of getting a different driver to work for my setup? Know of any drivers that would work?

PS- I'm a broke college student so I can't afford anything besides what I have.

Could be a lot, driver or hardware... at the end the supplier is responsible.

I was a broke student too before I joined the company, but no matter how broke you are at some point you realize that the cheap approach is just not worth it.

Drivers are specific to the hardware so your only choice is to call them

I understand about being a broke college student. I have several of those in my home!

yeah i know I'm graduating next year so I'll be able to afford some fun toys then!

bearthebruce- thanks for understanding

Update: I realized that the versions I was usng 409 and 311 were not compatible w/ Vista....took me a while to figure that one out.

So I pulled out the trusty desktop which has XP on it and it did the exact same thing!!! It still returned with "no response from controller"

what do you guys think?

The supplier should be the answer. Yes 409 and 311 are not Vista compatible since they were released in 2004 and 2003 respectively. Vista came on the scene in '07.

There are a number of other forums where people with 3rd party interface cables helped each other get their interfaces working. Perhaps you could spend some time searching those forums for answers.
