Default These codes reveal what about my dying TT?

Hello to all here, I usually post up on the TT forum, and generally have only read here. But, necessity forced a post, in the hope that someone (possibly you, UWe??) can help out. So here goes!

I took the ALMS TT in to have new tires installed and an alignment done, but couldn't pick up the car for a few days since I would be out of town. Asked the service guy to park it ourside, and I would get it in 3-4 days, and he said no problem.

Well, when I went to pick it up, it was completely dead, which had never happened to me before. I told the dealership guys that fact, and asked them to hook it up to the VAG machine to see what was the deal.

Here, below, is a printout of what I got:

Dudes said they couldn't tell from reading the VAG what had caused it to be dead, and suggested that I make another appointment some time.

I don't believe this to be true. But I thought someone here might be able to help! At the very least, I was hoping to get a better understanding of what some of the things in #35 - Central Locking specifically relate to, what had caused the dead battery, and if you have any suggestions for them. Thanks alot!

What do you mean your car is dead? Did your battery die? How old is it? ahave you ever checked the cells and added distilled water, or did you just let your batery die out?

The intermittent short could cause a parasitic draw,

Default Looks pretty much like a dead battery...

...at some point of a car life, batteries go dead that's "normal", so how old was your battery?

Default about 2 1/2 year old stock battery. I would guess a dead battery too, however

I was just kind of curious about the 6 fault codes in the central locking section, and what caused them and/or what they mean, especially the ones like:

"Signal wire for interior monitoring, short to earth sporadic" which is number 01616 036.

Or the "00668 007: Vehicle voltage terminal 30, Signal too low, sporadic",

and

"01616 036: signal wire for interior monitoring, Open circuit."

Where would be a good place to check for shorts since I have these codes?

Also anything else that might be helpful would be appreciated. I will be buying some Ross-Tech software soon to do some diagnosis.

Thanks alot for your help!
John

Default

these cars are very sensitive to low voltage situations, acting flaky when it happens.
