VW-Group module problems!

VW-Group module problems!
Hello everybody.
Not sure if here is the right place to post this, if not, let me know.
I have an A6 C6 2.4 2006, love the car, but I was a victim of the the steering column module problem twice.... lucky they were able to fix that by software, but I`m sure that the problem will happen again soon and it costs around 1.500 euros to fix it.
Besides that, every time I start the car, a crossed-parking icon shows on the console with the message: "Parking Brake Malfunction", but the parking brake works with no problem. I searched online and that is a parking brake module problem.
I had a Jetta 2.5 2010, and it had a problem with the fuel-pump module.
I also had a Passat 2.0T 2008 and it had problems with parking sensor module and steering column lock module.
I'm tired of this crappy modules from VW-Group!!!
Everytime I had to replace those modules it was very expensive.
So, for the first time in a very long time, I`m considering buying a BMW or Mercedes... for what I`ve found, they don`t have much of these problems.
Am I right or just got very unlucky with my cars ? I was thinking about getting a S3 or S4 2010, but now I'm always thinking about those ****ing modules and got completely hopeless.
I'm looking to buy a 5 to 7 year old car, what do you guys think ? Is this an "old car problem" or the modern generations have more reliable modules ?
