Advice needed on tire rubbing...
I was hoping that a set of 235 tires I had in the garage would be a nice stop gap for my 1995 Avant. I mounted them on OEM B5 Avus wheels and they rub. The problem is, I had the local NTB mount them, and asked if they would check for rubbing. They said they were ok, and I drove 1-2 miles home.
When I got out of the car I smelled the burnt rubber smell
It is dark now, but I lightly felt the inside edge of the tire. They were pretty hot along the edge where they rub on the spring.
My question is...are the tires toast now for sure, or with spacers can I still ride on them for a bit? Is it more of a look and see thing, look at how bad the wear is?
