Default Best way to remove stick-on wheel weights?

I am about to get my tires replaced, and one of my wheels has a stick-on weight inside the rim. I would like to take the weight off myself, carefully, before taking it to get the tires replaced. What is the best way to do this? Careful prying with a screwdriver and rags to protect the rim would probably work, but there has got to be a better way. Goo Gone? Heat the weight with a hair dryer to loosen the adhesive? I'm not really sure how well it is stuck on there, and I don't want to scratch the rim or peel off the clear coat in the process.

Thanks!

I just pry it off with a flathead screwdriver using rags to protect the paint. Then I use Goo Gone to remove the remaining foam with a smooth and slippery plastic piece I have had hanging out forever. Near the end, I use a Goo Gone'd shop rag to finish off the adhesive.
