Can wheel weights be removed without messing up the wheel?

Can wheel weights be removed without messing up the wheel?
Hey I got a quick question. I might be able to pick up a used set of rims I want. However, they are already mounted and balanced on tires. I would buy just the wheels. Now my question, can the tiny weights be removed that are used to balance the wheel/tire without damaging the inner wall of the rim? THanks

Double sided tape was used to attach the weights, so it was just a matter of pulling them off...
A screw-driver wrapped with paper (to prevent scratching) helps to get them off the first little bit so that you can pull on them proper.
