more evidence that tire sizes are next to useless
<center><img src="http://images.cardomain.com/installs/140000-140999/140822_32_full.jpg"></center><p>found this on a bmw forum -- both these tires are 285/40/18 (left one is a pzero, right one is a dunlop sp9000).
it seems a shame that the industry cannot get its act together on tire sizes -- as things stand, the only way to know what will fit is by trial-and-error.<ul><li><a href="http://www.bimmer.org/7series/messages/messages/49320.html">original post</a></li></ul>

i noticed that on TireRack.com
you can view tire specs and see that, even within the same manufacturers, the same advertised sizes (namely tire width and tread width) will all vary. my 225/45/17 S-03's are wider than my previous set of same sized RE730's.
