Default x post from A6 board,,Choosing a wheel,,, just too many choices..

After spending some time at Ronal in Huntington Beach, Ca. I was able to see first hand, how the many styles of wheels look on and off the A6. First of all, when you look at a wheel by itself it is misleading on how it will look while it's on a car. You'll get a general feel, but there is nothing like seeing it in person. Wheels that didn't really move me while they were sitting off the car, suddenly took on a new look when mounted on the car. Other wheels I thought were nice, just didn't measure up, at least on a dark colored big car like the A6.
Another thing I noticed was wheels look one way sitting still, and when the car is moving they look different.
I saw the Ronal series of wheels, in sizes from 225-235 17's to 18's as they were mounted on my Ming Blue A6 2.7T. The LZ's are the wheel I have on my car, and I am biased in their looks since I bought them!! I think they go well with the big-bodied A6.
The one wheel that only got a so-so reception from me while I saw it on the ground was the LV. It, for some reason didn't move me, it looked good but was missing something. Then they mounted the wheel on the car and I stood there looking at it, and I was amazed that the darn thing looked real nice on the car, in fact the LV ended up the second nicest looking wheel on my car - of course it finished behind the LZ!!! I just couldn't believe that the wheel I thought was so-so could suddenly look fantastic. And as the car rolled away it looked even better as it was moving. If there weren't a LZ wheel I would have picked this wheel to have on my car with a very close second going to the R7.
The new wheel the R-38 Turbine (hope I got this right) looked good on the car, but I did find the LV to look better on a big bodied car. The R-38 looks like it would best fit a smaller car. Again, as I looked at it just by itself, the style just wasn't me, put it on the car, it started looking better, but didn't have that big car fit. But as it was moving, it looked real nice, kind of like when turbine blades are moving, hence the name. This wheel also gives the appearance of a larger diameter wheel when seen in person. I think it may be due to the fact that the spokes extend to the edge of the wheel. The 17's sure looked like 18's while on the car and an 18" will be coming out in the future.
The RT's looked very nice on the car sitting still and when moving. This wheel was a good match for the big-bodied car. It also looks good on the S4 size cars, which I saw first hand at a Quattro Event. They were mounted on a silver S4 and it looked very nice, in fact I may have a picture of that car and will try to post it.

The R7's looked very nice also while on the car. By itself it looked good but it looks even better matched up with a big car like the A6. Has a tough and muscular look to it.
It was a very good experience to have actually seen how the different styles of wheels look on and off the car. The people at Ronal see this every day and they see how each wheel fits a particular body style or color. Pictures help, but they do not give the full effect of a wheels appearance and can sometimes be misleading. They do however get you one step closer to picking a wheel style that fits your personality and your cars looks.

Default Agree regarding LVs ----->

I thought they were butt ugly until I saw them in person. They look fabulous on the A4, 'specially with a tuned suspension ... and pictures just don't do them justice. : )
