5 Terrific Audi TT Build Threads

Automotive forums provide a community for car enthusiasts to come together and discuss their passion for motor vehicles. Perhaps one of the most fun elements of a forum is when members share about their personal relationships with their cars and document the changes and modifications along the way. The Audi TT platform is ripe for modding, and fortunately there are a number of members who have chronicled what it is like to build a TT the way they want it.

2013 TT-S Prestige Build - DissenTTS

Forum member DissenTTS bought his Audi TT-S Prestige new in 2013 when he and his wife traded in their 2011 TT. Apparently, the couple shared the car over the next several years, but come 2017, DissenTTS's wife buys her dream car and he is left to mod the Audi TT-S to his liking! Modifications began with an APR Stage 1 ECU upgrade and an accompanying Neuspeed P-Flo Air Intake Kit to increase power output. The transmission control unit was also tuned to decrease shift times and better match gear selection with the uprated engine power. The car was lowered with fully adjustable MSS sport springs in the front and street springs in the rear. Other mods include a rear Neuspeed anti-roll bar, Motorsport dogbone mount, stainless-steel Goodridge brake lines, and painted red brake calipers. EBC rotors & red stuff brake pads, as well as various LED lighting improvements, can be seen in the car. Check out the DissenTTS build thread and future modification plans here.

Mk1 TT Mashup - Xeontis

Perhaps the most extensive rebuild ever documented on AudiWorld comes from Xeontis and his Mk1 TT Quattro build. Xeontis claims this is his first ever TT build, but based on his build thread, he is quite handy with a wrench. Xeontis picked up a 2002 TT with a blown-up engine as well as a 2000 Quattro with a bad turbocharger with plans to use the best components of each car to build a track weapon and fun weekend cruiser. Thus far, Xeontis has documented engine disassembly, as well as the ordering of new internal engine components. The car is currently on the lift and is undergoing a thorough rebuild of the steering and suspension components. Lots of juicy details on the inner workings of an Audi TT can be found right here.

2018 TT-RS - BRKNJMPR

BRKNJMPR lays out a very well documented thread that covers everything from the delivery day of his new car all the way up to his most recent modifications as well as those planned for the near future. An interesting part of BRKNJMPR's build thread is that he is a T5 paraplegic and has made a few mods (namely his Suregrip hand controls) that allow him to fully operate and enjoy the car. Tons of pictures accompany this build as well as the various experiences BRKNJMPR has had with the car, such as his taking the TT-RS to Ice Racing School. Car modifications are aplenty and include items like aftermarket wheels, altered badging, vinyl decals, cat delete & downpipe, motor mounts & dogbone mount, as well as ECU Tuning and suspension mods awaiting installation. For those looking for a guide on how a build thread is done right, see BRKNJMPR's 2018 TT-RS build here.

2017 TT-S Photographic Perfection - Bknewtype

Longtime Audi Owner, Bknewtype, shows off his 2017 Audi TTS and supporting modifications with some incredible photography and youtube videos. Bknewtype has owned a number of Audis, including an R8, but claims the new TT makes for a better daily driver all the while having more accessible power in the city. This build thread documents various add-ons including exhaust modifications, ECU piggybacks, wheel swaps & wheel spacers, dogbone mount, suspension springs, and interior details. Overall, this build thread offers some great discussion about the new TT and how these mods have an effect on the car. Check out the visual goodness of all the pictures that Bknewtype provides us in his thread right here.

2017 TT-S Black Beauty - KnightRiderTT-S

KnightRiderTT-S introduces us to his 2017 TT-S with some first impressions of the car upon delivery, then follows it up with a discussion of the mods that he is making to the car. The list of mods is fairly straight-forward here with things like a dogbone insert, high-flow air filter, a Sprint Booster, and manually-opened exhaust valves. The discussion includes comparison with a BMW M4 as well as some talk of short races with a Mazda and BMW 135i. As good as the new TT-S may be, it seems we all probably lust after the RS model and its powerful 5-cylinder engine much like KnightRiderTT-S does. Check out his new car intro and subsequent mod update thread.
