Trunk soft release doesn't work
Hey Guys,
I'm having an issue with my trunk, such that the soft release ( the button above the license plate) does not trigger the actuator to open the latch.
Here are some facts:
1) Opening the trunk with the key works fine. Also I made sure that the lock is not in the closed position.
2) Using the remote button on the key, pops the trunk open just fine. --> means solenoid is ok.
3) There is a micro-chip inside the soft release, which makes the clicking sound when using the soft release. Using my volt meter I applied a signal to the chip, and in the closed position checked that it went through. It did. --> means chip is ok.
And this is where I get stuck. Not sure what else to try or how to proceed. Could it be a faulty relay?
Anyone any ideas?
I would appreciate any advice. Thanks!

Hey zolij,
I'm not really sure whether we have (or better had) the same problem. I got my A4 a week ago and the trunk hatch wouldn't open at all as soon as the ambient temperature was going up (I'm talking southern California with 70+ degrees @ 10am). Now I had it back at the dealer to take care of the problem and it took them (Audi Pacific) a total of 6 hours to fix it. My wife's found a ton of articles on Google about this same issue, seems to be pretty common.
From what I understand the capacitor (whatever this is) gets sorta broken and needs to be replaced.
Hope this helps
