Help Identifying Engine Hose
I am a new to this forum and don't know a whole lot about cars. My car is throwing a P0171 System Too Lean Bank 1 code and when I opened the hood I found the hose below had a hole. I was wondering if someone could help me identify what it is called and any suggestions on how to fix/replace it.
Close up of the hose. Area of concern in red box
Location is relation to the rest of the engine.
My car is a 2002 A4 1.8 (B6 Platform)

Vacuum hose. Audi uses braided outer on hoses susceptible to heat that's why it looks a little different to the standard rubber version on your basic japanese makes. Most of the retailers (ECS, Pelican, etc or a good auto shop) sell it by 1 metre lengths cheaply, you don't need to special order an Audi part. The clamps are not re-usable, you can purchase these and the special pliers to clamp them if you want the original look, or you can just use the screw worm drive ones, or even the spring type also available at any auto shop, just don't forget to get a couple. The hose is measured by the internal diameter and there are a couple of different sizes, since yours is already torn you can check the size of the nipple it slides onto before you purchase. the clamps are measured on the outer size, so as an example a 7mm vacuum hose (internal) will need about an 11mm clamp (at each end). Take the engine cover off and check the other vacuum lines as well.
You should notice an immediate difference in engine running when you fix the leak.

John,
Thank you! I will be heading to the auto parts store today to get a replacement hose and some clamps. The line looks pretty short and I am going to attempt to replace it myself. Once again thanks for the help and I will update with my progress.

Just an update. I got the parts from the local auto parts store cost a grand total of about $10. The hose replacement took about 30min of which 20 was spent trying to get the old one off. So far the light has stayed off which is good news. Thank you again for your help!!
