Outside dimming mirror issues
Does anyone know how these things work and are wired?
I put a 2002 right side mirror on a 2000 car.
The original mirror had fewer wires than the replacement mirror, however the car wiring was the same and had all wires.
Given the car had the extra wires, I was hoping it would be plug and play, but it seems that mirror stays dimmed at al times.
Does anyone know if there is a fix? If so, is it wiring or programming?
Do I have to move the guts of the 2000 mirror back? (Not sure it was dimming to start with)

depend on the mirror ..
some are heated, some are heated and anti dazzle.
did they have the exact same part numbers ?
is the mirror glass identicle ? I think the anti dazzle has a black plastic trim around the outside.

I did not check numbers, I am sure they are different. (I swapped whole doors)
The 2000 did have a dimming interior mirror and I think heated mirrors. (not sure about dimming exterior mirrors)
The 2002 definitely had dimming mirrors (and guessing heated)
Might just live with it, might move the glass from the 2000 mirror back.

It is not so dark that it is a problem. My guess is the 2000 does not have them, and hence in HW or SW does not support them.
I found it funny that while the mirror was missing the wires, the car was not.
And NO, I am not spending any extra money to fix such a minor annoyance.
If I did need it fixed, I would just pull the glass from the old door mirror, or find a way electrically to trick it to clear.

just an FYI my 2000 2.8 has anti dazzle on the outside and the black trim,, both mirrors are shot though and id love just to have regular glass in there if I could find some.. they are kind of expensive for heated anti dazzle glass.
