My wife's 98 A8 runs good. Everything works and she likes it. The last few months she complained about something which I dismissed as something spilled. Today, I felt it myself.

On the wood look counsel around the shifter, there is an oily substance. It isn't black like car oil or something like that. More like light machine oil. She thinks it is seeping out from the shifter bezel and has something to do with the transmission but I told her it is impossible. Besides stuff doesn't flow uphill.

Anyone ever experience this? Any idea where it's coming from? It is definitely not some spilled drink or anything like that.

Typical Jeep problem, except the auto dimming side mirrors leak and ruin the paint. That stuff is pretty nasty and will stain or ruin just about anything. Replace ASAP.

I honestly thought this was a joke. Like "turn signal blinker fluid" or some other far out joke. Never heard of this.

Now if I could just get someone to reply to my self caused, penny problem.

Small world. Magna-Donely's facility that makes mirrors and stuff is located less than 5 miles from my house. Not sure if mirror in my wife's 98 was made by Magma (was simply called Donelly before merger with Canadian Magna). I wonder if they will replace it? yeah right.

Now, does anyone know where I can get a quart of turn signal blinker fluid?
