Default Gas Pedal Slack

On my '04 A8 D3, my gas pedal has some "play" in it. It travels about an inch before the throttle kicks in. Then the car takes off. I can feather it a bit, which helps. I would like to find what could be causing the slack in the pedal. Could the TPS cause this issue? Or maybe the MAS?

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

Since the vehicle has a "Throttle by wire" setup, you likely have a broken/mechanical issue with the pedal assembly.

As far as I remember there is a throttle body alignment, or similar. VCDS needed. That may help.
