I am on my 4th A8L. Previous were 2001 2004 2007 and I now have a 2012. The 2007 and the 2012 have the B&O stereo and I have been somewhat disappointed in the 19 speaker '12 version. I feel like the '07 had more power and much clearer and crisper highs. Anyone else have this experience.

Can some please post their recommended setting on the newer B&O system. Maybe thats part of my problem Thanks

Unfortunately, it is what it is. Not sure what they were thinking when they put metal speaker grills with tiny holes on the front door speakers. I find that it needs to be cranked up to sound even moderately good. An embarrassing system considering the up charge, fancy pop up tweeters don't make up for poor overall design. I have a 2016 s8 and have no problem with volume, it's loud at 15-16 area. Older models like yours seem to limit the volume for some reason(my guess is they did it because of a shortcoming somewhere) but there is a way to by-pass the volume limiting, discussed in past threads. Also, besides bass and treble adjustments, try simply playing with the surround sound settings, assuming you are using them. I don't usually use the Driver (only) one, but even the front vs. all setting has some differences beyond just apparent EQ.
