2007 3.0 tdi, no glow light in dash
Hi all, new to me Q7 with 128,000 ks on the clock. Sometimes it seems to crank for about 4-5 seconds before starting with a puff of white smoke. Starts fine hot. I havent ever seen the glow symbol light up in the instrument cluster but found where it should be using a torch. Have tried to find the fuse/relay but no labels on the cover under the bonnet. Could the dash bulb be blown? Any ideas or is this a dealer vag-com issue. Thanks in advance.

This symptom is quite normal and can happen due to quite a few issues like;
1. An aging battery or a battery draining current
2. A faulty starter motor drawing more current
3. Weaken glow plugs etc
Do you have the vcds readings? Any faults there?

Thanks for your reply and confirmation this is normal. I had the car at the dealers who reported no faults. No surprises there as he won't want to fix anything under warranty. I talked to a mate who has had 2 q7's and he confirmed this is normal.
I did find the turbo inlet pipe screws loose which may have caused a airflow meter issue? It was leaking oil down the turbo. The weather has warmed up here now so it's starting fine for now.
