Font problem on 2013 Q7 MMI (for displaying Chinese and Japanese MP3 titles)
When playing MP3 / M4A songs from SD card, the Asian fonts, specifically speaking Chinese and Japanese, in title (and filename) is displayed as an ? surrounded by a rectangle box on the center MMI screen. And simply displayed as a blank (nothing) on the dashboard.
Of course there is no problem to play the MP3 / M4A file, and judging from the display, and the fact that filename and title information in the files are unicode, it seems the problem is simply because current MMI font pack does not contain those Asian characters.
Hence the question here is is there any way to update font package or replace it with Asian version font package, such as those Q7 sold out there in Taiwan?

if i recall correctly you can access the MMI and enable "special characters" through vagcom or hidden menu... i don't remember exactly if it does any of the asian, russian or greek language characters but it does the umlaut and related "special characters".
