Default Trunk not closing

Suddenly trunk quit closing. After pressing button it does come down. Also you hear motor working when it tries to close but fails. I had to manually press trunk hard at last moment to lock it. I cleaned the latch area nothing is blocking. Any advice or diy

most likely need a new motor or comfort convenience module. scan the car and post the codes.

Well, it looks like the it is something other then the spring, since the spring looks undamaged.

Ran a scan and the following codes showed up:

02914 & 02915 - have to do with the mechanical switches on striker plate
03073 - Rear Lid Closed Sensor 1

Just finished replacing he locking latch (PN 4F9 827 505, $60) on the rear lid. The only issue was getting the rear lid trim back on.

After playing around with the bad latch, it is pretty easy to test your locking latch if you are having this problem with the rear lid not closing.

Manually engage the locking latch to the lock position, if springs back, then you have a bad locking latch. A working latch will stay locked, now all you have to do is manually unlock it using the manual release in rear lid trim. Now that you know your latch is good, can check the other components (spring, striker plate, etc.,).
