Sorry to hear you bent a control arm. The OEM replacements are fine unless you feel you need something less forgiving. Also, they are relatively cheap.

before you pull the fan motor just unplug the fan switch.... that should shut off the fan motor

There are always two ways to do anything on this car, the hard way and the easy way. I prefer the hard way because you end up with funnier stories to tell

Plus you get to break stuff you didn't know was there and then search for part numbers.....
