I turned off the filters on my 01 Bose and it sounded allot better...
not sure about the EQ because I had to do allot of adjusting to get mine back in line after the VAG mod. It had much more high and low end after the filters were turned off. I had to back the bass level down to half of what it normally was. I can't remember the code that I set, so hopefully someone will post it.

You can recode the stereo for non-bose, but I'm not sure if that will affect your EQs.
The stereo is coded 00100 (I think). Just change it to something like 00000 or something, and that will make the stereo not display BOSE when you turn it on. Whether or not this will disable BOSE EQs, I have no idea.
Turning the EQ off, was true on the B5 models. The B6 BOSE sounds fine to me, but then again I'm not an audiophile. At some point, I'd like to add a subwoofer. But I'd probably go with the easiest approach and get a line level converter and tap into the rear speakers.

Don't think so for the Bose/Symphony II...
I've never heard of anyone being able to disable or adjust the "hidden" eq settings on an '02. Let us know if you find a way!
