Best of Audi World 2020

While we didn’t get to leave the house much this year, the Audi news fortunately didn’t grind to a halt.

“May you live in interesting times,” is sometimes cited an a ancient curse, but the exact history is a little murkier. That said? This terrifying, boring, and interminable stretch on the calendar has been as “interesting” as I’d even like to experience. Fortunately, there were plenty of bright spots for fans of the fabled Four Rings, and the virtual nature of Audi World meant we were able to conduct socializing here just as we always have.

So on that note, let’s take a look at the most popular stories posted to the blog this year. From high-performance beasts, to dumb criminals, to cinematic cameos, these stories run the full gamut — even if they’re a little short on old-school, from-the-field reporting. Keep your fingers crossed there’s more of that in 2021. Because I can personally say I’m looking forward to hitting the road.

Number 10: ‘Boring Looking’ Audi S6 Made for a Perfect Cannonball Car

Sometimes, being flashy is kind of fun. But if you’re setting out to break the Cannonball record? Being flashy isn’t exactly what you’re really aiming for. This story about how an Audi RS6 was modified to enter the record books of criminal lore isn’t for the squeaky clean set — but it’s a hoot to read.

Number 9: The All-New Audi RS Q8: The Beast is a Beauty

Audi has long proven that even if you need space, you don’t have to sacrifice speed or style, and Q8 is an excellent example of that fact. While my taste happens to run a little more toward the fire-breathing rally cars of Group B, I can’t say I don’t appreciate a red-hot SUV.

Number 8: Audi RS7 Owner Busted for 187 in a 65 MPH, Drug Trafficking

So in case you had any doubt in your mind? This guy is a complete idiot. Because not only was he stupid enough to be hitting impound-level speeds in a construction zone, he was doing it while carrying enough weight to be charged with not just possession, but trafficking.

Number 7: Watch These 15 Flicks Co-starring Audis While You Social Distance

Given the “interesting” nature of the year, you likely watched a lot of movies. And given that things are still interesting? You might want to check out this post if you missed it the first time. There are some great flicks here, and seriously don’t get me started on how much I love Legally Blonde.

Number 6: Must-have Mods for the Audi B8.5 S4/S5

The list you’re reading is based on the popularity of the articles here. So it’s basically science. That said, I realize something like a list of “must-have” mods is always going to provide fodder for spirited debate. Check out this post and see how in line the suggestions are with your priorities.

Number 5: Secrets of the Audi A4

Modern cars are complicated, and Audis are more complicated than most. So even if you’ve owned your A4 for a little bit, there are likely a few things you don’t know about it. Unless you’re one of the people who reads the owner’s manual — and we know nobody does that.

Number 4: 40 Years of Audi quattro All-Wheel Drive

It’s really hard to conceive of just how revolutionary Audi’s quattro technology was when it first debuted on the rally scene. But the ferocious performance of those machines — not to mention all the podiums they achieved — set the stage for the success the brand is experiencing today. And know that makes looking back really fun.

Number 3: Audi Audi RS6 Avant Transformed Into ABT RS6-R

Right out of the box, the RS6 Avant is a giant-killer in terms of performance. But you know what they say — there’s no kill like overkill. After the tuning wizards at ABT get ahold of this wicked wagon, things get properly off the hook. If you have the bucks, this a great way to spend some extra cheddar.

Number 2: Audi RS 3 Nardo Edition Turns Gray Skies Blue

Only 200 of the Nardo Edition models made it to the United States, so if you were able to score one, count yourself lucky. While it’s a little faster than the stock RS 3, the sick gray paint is really the coolest thing about it. Now, I realize gray isn’t always the most exciting of hues, but this shade is a definite exception.

Number 1: Petersen Auto Museum Launches Exclusive Online Content

Even during normal times, if you don’t live in Southern California, getting to the Petersen Museum can be tough. Fortunately, the curators there debuted some fantastic online content this year, and you’d expect, there’s plenty of meat for Audi fans. This batch of photos and info will help wet your whistle for the time when you can make a physical pilgrimage.
