Mance, there any performance gains by picking the 3" in/out cat over the 2.5" in/out cat?

Default so you think if I run...

Dual 2.5 inch down pipes to 3" in/out cat down to 2.25" single pipe from cat back I should be fine? I too am keeping my stock resonator and reusing my magnaflow muffler.

Or should I just go 2.5" all the way back to keep things flowing consistantly?

Default I think coilovers might be a tad bit excessive for my use of the car...

if I get crazy, one day I'll tear the suspension apart and redo it... but we'll see. If I do put coilovers in, it'll be like the statis konis co's... who knows though. At the rate I've been dropping $$ on this car... I'm currently cutting myself off =P

Default "dual 2.5" downpipes" is a bit excessive with only 3 cylinders per...

2.25" downpipes/flex joints is a closer fit as they'll slip right over the stock downpipes. Other than that it's essentially your call. Only advantage 2.5" will have over 2.25" aft of the cat is a little more open architecture for future engine development. Certainly not needed/required at current/existing state of modification.

Default well the TDL headers are 2.5" outlets...

so I thought that I might as well run that consistantly back from the heads to the cats... or should I just downsize from there to 2.25"? Then carry the 2.25" all the way back.

Main thing is, at what point would the 2.25" start not being enough and the 2.5" start to be better? You said around the 250 hp mark right?

If I were to redo all my intake stuff... namely run S3 MAF, XSTB, S3 Silicone, P&P IM, refined head entrance where the IM meets up with the head, and unequal length headers... I still probably wouldn't be pushing the limits of the 2.25" piping would I?

Be blunt with me my man... cuz if you think (from past experiences, etc) that I never hit the point where the 2.25" starts to hinder me, then there would be no point in me spending the extra $$ to redo the entire system in 2.5" piping.

thanks,

Default I forgot about the headers!! In that case go with 2.5" downpipes and post-cat...

far better to have it and never use it to it's full potential than to need it even once and not have it.

Default ahh... ok. Thanks! i'll do that...

I'll probably talk to the shop and see what they are willing to do.

I'll get the couplings from burnsstainless.com for 2.5" to 3" and then the 3" cat.

They should be able to open up the openings to accept the 2.5" piping on my resonator and muffler right?

Thanks for the help mance... much appreciated as always.
