Well....my 12v is very broken... i need some advice.
To make a long story short at a stop light my car started to shake violently so i pulled into the nearest parking lot to check it out. It felt as if one cylinder was mis-fireing or not at all. I imediatly went home to check it out. Pulled in the garage and checked all the pulgs and wires that are farely new. Everything seemed fine. so my mechanic also a good friend stoped by and we did a compression test. We discovered #5 cyclindar had no compression at all. Then my heart droped.
Tomorrow the head will be pulled to see if it is a valve or worse. I was realy hoping the car would hold out mechanicaly because i am selling the car for either a 00 a6 4.2 or a 2003 a4 1.8t. But if the provblem is worse than a valve i think the 12v will be apart of my family a little longer.
My question is ... If it its worse than a valve and something like the Rod itself what would you do. Rebuild it?? swap the motor?? maybe a motor upgrade of somekind??? (i know thats probably not realistic) ... i would just like your opinon..thanks

Find out whats wrong first before getting stressed..
It could be a stuck valve. If youve got no compression, I wouldnt think it would be anything but a bad valve, stuck valve or a bent one. Wost case being a bad compression ring.
You may be able to get away with just getiing a valve job or at worst, replacing a head for a couple hundred bucks. Look at it this way, when you get it back together, youll have new head gaskets and clean valve seats.
BTW, If you pull one side off and decide to get the valve seats cleaned, do both sides.
