Successful engine swap! CAEB TO CPMB
Long story short but I needed an engine for my 2012 Q5 that had 112k miles on it. Did research about the CAEB engine that it came with and soon realized that I didn't want to install another one of them. Found a local salvage yard that had a CPMB engine removed from a 2016 A4 with only 26k miles on it. Buying this new engine was kinda a risk because I wasn't positive that everything was going to work correctly with the swap. Right away I seen I had to change out the intake manifolds and went with a brand new plastic one. Next I ended up switching the accessory mount because the CPMB was not set up for a PS pump. Used my factory ECU and entire factory engine wiring harness with no issues. Installed my factory turbo mainly because the CPMB engine was sold without a turbo! Last thing I needed to change over was the crank sensor because the connector was different. Installing the engine back in the Q5 all went very smooth and to my luck it started right up and has ran trouble free for 500 miles now with no check engine lights!! Just thought it was kinda cool to say that this engine swap actually is possible!!

CAEB AND CPMB ENGINES ARE THE SAME. ONE JUST HAS NO POWER STEERING AND A TWO PEICE INTAKE MANIFOLD. THE CPMB ENGINE WILL LAST YOU LONGER THEN A CAEB. I WOULD RECOMMEND DOING YOUR OIL CHANGES EVERY 5K NOT 10K AND DON'T USE ANY CHEAP OIL FILTER ALWAYS USE DEALER OR MANN.
