Default 2.7 engine noise

I looking at a 03 AllRoad with a 2.7 biturbo with 52k. When started it sounded fine but when the accelerator was depressed a clicking sound could be heard at the front of the engine. The sound was not a knock but a click. I have never owned an Audi before and I was not sure if this could be a normal sound or just a cold engine not started for some time, or something serious.

Default Audi A6 2.7t Clicking sounds

I have a 2004 A6 S-line and I am experiencing the same intermittent 'clicking' noises from the 2.7t motor. It seems to occur most often if the engine has been idling for a short period, such as sitting in traffic, in line at the bank, or in line picking up my daughter, etc. Once I am underway it seems to only occur the first time I step in the throttle. It seems to be coming from the motor, low on the driver's side. As soon as I hear the clicking, I let up on the throttle, give it a second, then get back on the gas and it goes away. Weird. Could one of the turbos be over heated after sitting? Is this considered knock? The only mod I have is a Revo stage 1 reflash. It also has about 60k on the odometer. Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated!

maybe its not your engine but instead your axles. my outer cv joint started clicking with my foot off the gas pedal and went away when i pressed the gas pedal... then it got worse and worse and eventually blew apart. but then again, i knew it was gonna happen, i cut the torn boot off, lol.

My 01 A6 2.7l biturbo 6 speed had a clicking noise from the front of the engine that was intermittent with the engine just idling. The noise was from a worn lever arm pivot that connects the cam belt tensioning damper to the tensioning roller. The 01 A6 only had 37,000 miles on it at that time. I changed the cam belt, tensioning roller, idler roller lever arm and damper. You might want to listen for the noise with a mechanic's metal tipped stethoscope.
