Will a 2.7T fit into a '99 Audi a4 Avant with 2.8l in it now?
I used to have a 99 A4 avant that I sold to my friend he put a lot of dents on it and could buy it back really cheap.
I was wondering if I get a 2.7t from a S4,A6 if it will fit into this car. It's a 5spd. manual "will 2.7t bolt into this tranny?"
Any problems with wiring if I get the 2.7t engine harness, ecu?
Thanks

Go for it. The block is the same bolt pattern so your tranny should bolt up, but...
you might have issues with the transmission wiring. Such as the reverse light switch and vehicle speed sensor. Engine speed sensor may not read right. Or it maybe perfect. Do it, I'm sure there won't be any issues that cant be resolved.

IIRC, the tip tranny used with the 2.8L 30V is different than the one that is used w/2.7t engine.
The torque level of the 2.7t is significantly higher than the 2.8L na engine. Why would you want to take an old Audi and make is even more unreliable that it already is?

I have done it...except I put the 6 speed behind the engine...
You will have to deal with the gas pedal. The s4 is throttle by wire, the 2.8 has a cable. There is a way around it purchasing a kit to convert the throttle on the 2.7t to cable.
Good luck!!

it had an a4 cluster.... the harness was from an s4.
The only problem was the gas pedal. I had to find the wiring diagram for the s4 and run wires to the ecu with a new s4 gas pedal.
I will be doing the swap again...but this time with more power!! It will be my car this time.

tranny's should go together fine..
don't hold me to this though but i've heard of shops giving 2.8's 6spd. and i would think they would just bolt together, same block and all. and fyi 5 and 6 speeds have same final drive ratio.
