Default 2001 1.8T or 2002 1.8T

I'm planning on buying a 1.8T later this year. But which one is better. Let's not talk about the body style and focus on the more interior and engine components. Please post any comments.

p.s. which body style do you perfer? I didn't like the new body before but it's growing on me. Price is also an issue (big difference btw the two??)

Thanks!

Default 2002 all the way

The only thing that should hold you back from the 2002 would be the fact that it's a first year model and could potentially have some bugs.

first year for a new body or design is always risky to buy...recalls may arise. It could be a pain.

Default What risk? The car's been on sale in Europe for a year!

I bought my '96 A4 in Sept. '95. It has been as trouble free as cars bought several years later. Your theory doesn't hold water. ;o)

Default Actually it's not just HIS theory it's one shared by a large portion of the automotive community

If anything YOUR theory is thin. Just because one A4 (out of god only knows how many) was trouble free that means they all are? There are many known problems with older model A4's that were corrected in later MYs.

Default And when Saturn first started making cars there was a recall

for all of them due to engine fires from faulty wiring harnesses. That's a pretty severe example but there are bugs to be worked out of anything that's new. Some caution is prudent.
