Default 6 Speed Tranny. swap - anybody done it?

Just wondering if anyone has swapped a 6 speed tranny into their A4 from a wrecked Passat or Jetta. Heard that the trannies are plug and play somewhere.

Default no way man, i have invested way too much into my A4 now (over $15k).

I am just going to wait a few years and get a brand new BMW M3

I wasn't aware that the S4 transmission fit the A4 since they are different engines altogether. BTW, I noticed that Total Audi Performance has been posting that their 6 speed gearbox conversion is "coming soon" for over 4 years now. WTF is up with them anyway?

Are you willing to spend about $5K to get an extra gear?

Default Richard has already done one.

He has a list of all the stuff needed, but it looks mostly straight forward

The extra gear is a bonus - its the gear ratios that make it worth while

Default I'm in the middle of doing a RS2 6 speed into my A4.

The NeuS4 6 speed is a bit 'easier' as the S4 shifter, shift rod and push rod will fit the A4 directly. A shifter for the RS2 is a bit trickier.
You'd need:
The 6 speed

S4 drive shaft

Either a S4 rear differential or a 4.11 ring and pinion set for the A4's rear diff

100mm output flanges to replace the S4's 108mm flanges or the axles and hubs from a S4 to replace the A4's.

You'll either have to custom alter the A4's trans mounts or locate mounts in Europe to adapt the 6 speed to the A4.

Richard said he had to splice the harness side connectors from a S4 into his A4's harness in order to connect the speed sensor and back up light switches. My box looks like the harness is plug and play.

S4 shifter parts.

Misc gaskets for the flange conversion and the drive shaft conversion etc.
