now I'm in another question:
if I buy a car which originally had a 2,4 (or maybe bigger) engine, will I have problems with the balance if I change it to a 1,8 liter engine? will it be the front of the car at a higher level, I assume that there is a considerable weight difference between the 2 engines...

i don`t know about the shock absorbers but surely the springs will have to be changed. There`s a color code for each engine, 2.4 surely has different shocks/springs. Also you have to change all 5 engine mounts witch differ on engines also: 2 main absorbers, 2 rear absorbers and the frontal one.

The frontal one has a system that lets you "move" the engine inside the engine bay to place it correctly at the center of gravity, its about 1cm right or left adjustment at best.

Also check the fuel pump if that needs changing..

I have 1.8t passat 98 aeb. Bigger head ports, still 5v & is pretty good. To me atleast. Has its quirks as they all do though
