Default T1 speed

I'm not a network engineer. The concept below is valid, but I'm not sure if I'll get all the terms correct, but here goes....
According to our network engineer at work, A completely dedicated T1 line could be faster than a cable modem. If you have a T1 line at work, the number of people using the T1 will, of course have an impact on speed. Also, a company's T1 may have a "throttle limit" (may not be correct term). In essence, this means that even with only one user on the T1, that user may only get 30% or 40% or whatever the company agrees to with the ISP. Apparently this saves bandwidth cost or something.
al

Default Bang! Hiss...

Driving near Ann Arbor today on I-94 in heavy traffic, a truck in front either dropped something off the back or kicked it up. It looked like a brick bouncing up from the road, and being in the middle of three 70-mph lanes of traffic, all I could do was grit my teeth and hope it passed under me. No such luck. I heard a crunch as it hit somewhere up front, followed by a hissing noise. My first thought was that it was a tire going flat, but the car tracked on with no problems and the hissing stopped. About half a minute later I realized that the A/C was now blowing warm, moist air and figured out what must have happened.
When I later got out to look, the brick had taken a gouge out of the front bumper, smashed through the grille just above the "Quattro" emblem, and punched a hole in the a/c condenser plumbing. It's covered under my collision insurance with only $100 deductible, but I can't wait to see how much this seemingly "minor" damage is going to cost.
BTW, driving back from Ann Arbor about 70 miles in 90+ and humid weather with no a/c, those vinyl "leatherette" seats did not seem like such a good choice. I was really stuck to them by the time I got home :-).
-- Doug G
98.5 1.8TQM (slightly damaged goods)

Default Doug, sorry for your unpleasant experience; hope repairs go well as they should. It sounds like you need new seats too. :)
