Brake Pad Question.....
I am planning on changing the pads all the way around this weekend. I have about 5,000 miles on these rotors(Audi Stock). Do I need to have them resurfaced? If yes, who could do the re-surface?
Are there any other things I should look for? Tips, hints?
TIA

The rear can be a PITA due to the parking brake mechanism.....
....you need to push and turn the piston to get it to retract. You may need to use a special tool to do this, I did.

A combination of using his tool to push and turn, along with a few squeezes from a C-Clamp allowed me to get the rear pistons to retract. I tried the needle-nose plier method which was mentioned in the FAQ, but all I ended up with was bloody knuckles.

As long as the tool allows you to turn the piston as well as apply pressure......
....it should be fine.
There is a much nicer tool available from Baum tools:

3131 - BRAKE CALIPER SPANNER
Priced at only $25.53
I doubt you'll find it at PepBoys though. BTW, I bought my Lisle "cube" tool at PepBoys.

Resurface...
I'd recommend a resurface whenever you change to new pads. You run the risk of the new pads not setting correctly, and thus squeeling soon thereafter. Most brake shops will resurface your rotors for a minimal cost. You could also find a local machine shop to do the work.
I've seen a couple of those brake tools used for the rear piston on Ebay, around $20.
