ive had this problem for a long itme now...
no leak, but i know im low on fluid. when the tranny is cold, itll slip out of gear. in the past adding atf helped a lot. i know my tranny is on its way out but not having money to correctly fix it leaves me no choice but to fix it temporarily. (im actually planning on doing a full level10 upgrade so i can then upgrade my turbo).

Acidrane: what do you mean it slips out of gear?
I'm also a tipper and was just curious...also how many miles you have? I'm planning on doing a full fluid/filter change in the spring on my A4. Thanks.

it only happens when i first start the car.
it doesnt matter how long i let the car warm up. ill put it in gear (reverse or forward) and it will go for a few feet then itll feel as if i put the car in neutral. ill either wait it out or give it some gas and itll grap again. very similar to a slipping clutch. it feels liek the more i drive it the better it gets. so im assuming some part of the tranny isnt getting enough oil when the car is cold/sitting there for some time.
i changed the fluid/filter myself in april. i knwo i didnt do it right because i lost more oil than i put in and it was bad. id be driving on the freeway and the car would kick. i added about 2 more quarts of oil the next day and it solved the problem. ive had this problem before, just not as bad.
i also drive in tip ALL the time. ive heard from some people that this is the cause of my problem. because tip isnt meant to be driven on a daily basis but just once in a while. but like i said, i dont want to spend a fortune on the tranny right now. i dont track it or race it and i do plan on doing a BT upgrade in the near future and in doing so i want to go level10 as well.
