Check Engine Light is on

So I was leaving work today and on my way home, right after I pulled out of the parking lot, the car was being stupid and the check engine light came on. I was tryin to speed up and the car was all bogging down RPMs. It was rather cold out too, about 31 degrees. The car is running fine now and nothing seems wrong, but why is the stupid light on still? Help!?!?!

you need to use a vag com to get the engine codes that tell you what are wrong with it

I was thinking that, but I was wondering if anyone had any off the top of their head ideas. I'm supposed to head out of town tomorrow and it's a 3 1/2 hour drive.
