Combination Valve problem, Please Help!
There is air gushing out of combination valve BASE, please see the pic. I shined the (yellow)light on the place where air comes out, on the more detailed pic. This valve is located on the engine head side towards firewall. There is a black plastic pipe and a small hose connected to the Combination Valve.
1)Is there a plug missing?
2)What is the reason the air is coming out of there? It becomes loud under load (moderate accelaration), well heard in 1st,2nd and 3rd gears. I idle, it is barely heard, but you could feel it with a finger.
3) Could something else be the cause ? (Secondary Air Injection solenoid[under the intake manifold])
PLEASE HELP,
Thank you Audi Techs and Friends,

This pic above? If you look under the valve, there are two bolts. That hold a gasket in place. It might be that one of the bolts came out. This happened to my 2000 a4 1.8TQ.
I had the same sound like you describe. Have someone rev the motor parked. And feel under the valve.
The fix was to put a bolt back in and hold the valve tight. Take a look and try to move the valve a little. Feel under there.
Or is it coming out of the last pic I circled?
I'll run out and take a look on my car.

I see in your picture. There is a slot? I put my finger on mine.
And felt no slot. I doubt it had some sort of plug, but you never know.
I'm looking in the bentley now. I take it you have a bentley too, since you know the name of the valve?
Just want to make sure again, so the air is coming just from the part I circled?
Did you check the two bolts were in the valve?
two bolts facing down. Really hard to see, but you can feel for them.

Thank you! I looked at it with a mirror..
found a hole, either punched through by some tech. loking for more work,.. or maybe it rusted through (really doubt it)..
Anyway, I put a Latvian penny, it fit just right, on epoxy there to plug it. Next day, checked everything is fine now!
Thank you!
