Default That's what drove me absolutely nuts

Not being able to speak to the mechanic is problematic. In the past, I've been fighting tooth and claw to get to talk face to face to the mechanic, and each time it paid off. The service advisors often seem to lack the necessary knowledge (in my experience).

I've used fuel system cleaner before, never had a problem.

Default I've had cold start misfiring problems on 3 DIFFERENT VAG cars now! Gas was the problem for me...

I cannot use the Mobil 93 gas in my area (NH)...There is something in it here that does not agree with any of the turbocharged VW & Audis that I have owned (2000 A4 1.8T, 2001, WE Jetta 1.8T, and 2001.5 S4). The Jetta succumbed to the worst of it stalling many times & misfiring badly at cold start, the A4 just stalled randomly at cold start, and the S4 had idle problems & stalling.

I was told by dealer it was octane, but that is crap because I use 93 all the time, just not Mobil now. Citgo & Sunoco work fine for me now.

Try switching your fuel brands and see if that helps...not saying this is what your problem is, but it's worth a try.

Default I left my last dealer because of this.

The traffic going through that dealer meant they had to do things by the book. SA summarizes the problem in 10 words or less. Tech sees it, and interprets his own way. Either I show up and get "could not duplicate", or I get a call at 4PM asking for clarification, and then they tell me because of the misunderstanding they can not have the work done.

My current dealer takes more time to *listen* before the summarize the issue. They will ask "at what temp, rpms, other conditions" that I made my observations. If I ever return, and I get "could not duplicate", there is always a standing offer to take a tech out on a test drive ON THE SPOT so they can see what I'm talking about.

Default Maybe, but would doubt it

If it's happened to you, I would think it's happened to others. Problem is you used something which ain't blessed by the Audi gods, so you've got a battle on your hands.

My understanding is that Techron is the only fuel system cleaner blessed by Bosch (Audi FI manufacturer). It's the only fuel additive I've been using in the Audi or Porsche.
