Default Doh! Wife hits traffic cone

Some idiot left a traffic cone IN a freeway lane at a spot where one's attention is focused on traffic that is merging from the left. Unfortunately my wife slammed into it and it left a scuff mark on the unpainted lower.

Is there any way to remove or at least reduce the scuffed/burred appearance? Any and all advice is welcome.

P.S. Yeah, yeah, guys always blame their wives or girlfriends but as you may have seen from my post of yesterday, I'm the chucklehead who drives the family grocery hauler (Kia Sportage) to work every day.

DOT should pick up the bill.

In the past, with race cars and cones we have used WD-40 to remove the rubber left on the paint. Should wax it up after that.

Hope it helps

Default Why?...

What if they didn't place it there? Also, DOT isn't the sole user of cones.

Default My point is...

How do you know it reads DOT and why would they be liable, if it can't be proven that they placed it there?

Default He said *unpainted* lower!

Don't wax that! I would use Lexol Vinylex to try to clean up up a bit. If that doesn't work, try something more aggressive like a solvent (sure, WD40...rubbing alcohol, etc.).
