Default The one I drove engaged at the very top

It engaged so much higher than my 1.8T that I made sure the car was in gear the first time I tried to get moving.

Right where my 1.8T would start to engage, I can feel the effort on the pedal change ever so slightly as well as feel the engine through (also very slight). The clutch doesn't seem to fully engage until the pedal is just shy of the top of its travel.

The clutch does not slip even at WOT.

This was on a 98 12v, btw.

Default That was the first sign that my clutch was on the way out...

literally caught all the way at the top, but didn't slip at all for like 15k miles. Then after a while it started slipping and I knew it was time.

Default ok, so chances are that the clutch can lost a good while before replacement...

...becomes a serious consideration?

Default hard to say- depends on how long it has been like that...

if it's been like that for over 10k miles or something then you might not have that long- but you never know. How many total miles on teh car?

Default It's been like that for about 30k according to the owner

There's about 70k on the car.

I guess since it still isn't slipping it might be normal.
