Default What I did....

...sounds a little crazy, but it worked...I taped a drinking straw to the end of the vacuum's crevice attachment and then used that to get all the dust out. I found that the straws with the flex/bendable joint in them worked best.

Default Don't run water... because it will take a while to dry and may leave spots..

Get some compressed can air, and blow it out... I would removed everything out of the housing.

Just to make sure you don't break anything..

I would take it all apart and make sure it was dry after the water

I did something similar to that (PVC tubing instead of straw) and it worked great.
