How much is involved in a 2.7t engine swap? Is it even worth it?

Default Probably around $6000 minimum in parts alone, just for the engine stuff.
Drivetrain will net another $3000+. Best to trade up, sell yours & buy an S4 outright.

I think the people that have done it, maybe had a lucky break on an S4 doner car or something. Maybe they have an uncle with a junkyard? ;-P

buying a totalled S4 and swapping things out is the way to go AFAIK

Default de-mod and trade-in on s4 and you'll take less of a hit.
