Huh? Where's the new filter?
Well, I guess I should not have to expect this level of service, but now it's getting to the point I that I'll change dealerships for my basic "free" maintenance.
I had a 2:30pm appointment Friday for a basic oil and filter change at Prestige in Denver. Dropped off my 2000 A4 2.8 and cruised the show room. Nice pearl S8 sitting there. Sat around, made a few phone calls. One and a half hours later, I'm headed home in a freshly washed A4. Sunday I fire-up the air compressor, check tires (5.5 mm left on tread, less to wear bars, guess I'll need to start thinking about those Dunlop SP 5000s), clay bar the windshield, clean blades. Opened hood to check windshield fluid level. Ok. Check oil level. What??? Dirty oil? Check again (and again). Dirty oil, but not as bad as a week ago. Look at oil filler cap. Hmmm...finger prints in the dust. Take flashlight, look down at filter. Very dusty, typical long term road grime. Damn...checked service manual. Says 24,000 mile service is oil AND filter. Check service receipt. Says "24,000 Advantage Service-No Oil Filter". Cheap SOB's. At least they should have TOLD me up front. Today being Sunday, the service department is closed so I've not contacted they, but something sure seems wrong here.
The way I read the manual for a 2.8's service interval is an oil change every 8,000 miles or 6 month and general service (includes oil change) every 16,000 or 12 months. Both maintenance descriptions say "Oil Filter: Replace". I've heard people say here that you needed to buy a filter on some of the Audi "free" services, but I thought they ended that practice.
Just a "dweeb"
