i took out the spark plug wire and took a peek and there no sign of oil anywhere. i had my v/c and cam adjusters replaced with my timing belt at 90k.

Replace your spark plugs. DO NOT USE ANYTHING ELSE, BUT NGK plugs. There is a huge difference between NGK vs other vendors for Audi.

I replaced mine and the problem went away.
